POSITIVE WAYS TO PROCESS YOUR GRIEF

Denial.....Bargaining.....Anger.....Depression.....Acceptance

Note: Your grief process may not follow these stages exactly;
you may bounce all around and back and forth over and over again.
As you are special and unique, so is your grieving process.

  1. Try to determine at what stage you’re in with this process. Pray for the Lord’s help and for Him to comfort and love you.
              Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
                                                                                                        ---Matthew 5:42
  2. Write a letter to the deceased describing how you feel.
  3. Write a letter about the last contact or special memories.
  4. Write a letter identifying the positive things about the deceased and/or your relationship and how these things may be remembered.
  5. Try to determine at what stage you’re in with this process. Pray for the Lord’s help and for Him to comfort and love you.
              The lowly he sets on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
                                                                                                        --Job 5:11
  6. Keep a daily/weekly grief journal (with the above letters) and write about your feelings and what “stage of grief” you experience.
  7. Talk to others about losses in their lives relative to how they felt and coped.
  8. Write a good-bye letter to deceased.
  9. Visit the grave of the deceased and read the good-bye letter. Write about your feelings in your journal.
  10. Try to determine at what stage you’re in with this process. Pray for the Lord’s help and for Him to comfort and love you.
              Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief.
