OPTIONS TO CHOOSE WHEN FEELING IN CRISIS

      1. Talk to yourself and say "this is only temporary".
      2. Learn something new.
      3. Write a letter to yourself.
      4. Journal.
      5. Take a warm bath with soft music.
      6. Ride a bike.
      7. Go window shopping.
      8. Visit a nursing home.
      9. Do community service.
      10. Read God's promises.
      11. Pray.
      12. Play on swings and slides.
      13. Write goals and plans.
      14. Take a walk.
      15. Watch TV (positive shows).
      16. Clean the house.
      17. Look through picture albums.
      18. Play dress up.
      19. Record songs.
      20. Play with your cat/dog/etc.
      21. Think relaxing thoughts.
      22. Tink "murderous" thoughts (when needing to feel anger).
      23. Rip up phone books or newspapers.
      24. Cry.
      25. Get something to drink (non-alcoholic).
      26. Take 3 deep breaths.
      27. Turn on all the lights.
      28. Make hot tea.
      29. Tell yourselfyou are loved.
      30. Wrap up in a warm blanket.
      31. Rock a doll or cuddle a teddy bear.
      32. Pay attention to feelings.
      33. Read a short story.
      34. Listen to classical music.
      35. Call a friend.
      36. Go to a movie.
      37. Sip some hot chocolate.
      38. Paint or draw.
      39. Work on the computer.
      40. Play solitaire.
      41. Go for a drive.

      42. If none of these work, then try calling your therapist.
