How To Get Angry Feelings Out

     The following is a complilation of suggestions from children and adults who understand that carrying anger around inside is no good, and who don't use their anger harmfully, either.

  1. Scream in a pillow
  2. Run in circles until you are panting.
  3. Go be alone.
  4. Pet your cat or dog.
  5. Watch TV.
  6. Talk to a friend.
  7. Throw a ball at the wall, garage, door, tree, etc.
  8. Punch a pillow or stuff animal.
  9. Go swimming.
  10. Draw a mad picture and then rip it to shreds.
  11. Look at something funny.
  12. Try to laugh.
  13. Write down your feelings.
  14. Write a mad letter and then crumple it up.
  15. Clean your room, the garage, the back porch, the basement.
  16. Hide in your special hiding place.
  17. Spin in circles until you're dizzy.
  18. Hang a target up. Kick, punch or hit it.
  19. Pretend you called the cops and you are telling the police all about the terrible things the person who did you are mad at.
  20. Remember your good feelings.
  21. Go to someone and ask for help.
  22. Hit your bed with the flat part of a tennis racquet.
  23. Go out to the driveway and stomp on chalk. It makes a great noise.
  24. Rip up a phone book. Be ready to take a shower afterward.
  25. Create a target. Then take wet tissues and throw them at the target.
  26. Put on a drama or puppet show. Let the characters yeall and scream.
